Today, the Daring Greatly production team, in partnership with Memorable Brands Clothing, proudly launches the #RememberThe8 campaign a heartfelt initiative created to honour the eight men whose lives were tragically taken and whose stories inspired our film Daring Greatly.
This campaign stands as a symbol of remembrance, unity, and compassion. It serves not only to honour the lives lost but also to ensure that their names, their stories, and their humanity will never be forgotten.
As part of this initiative, a percentage of all profits from the Remember the 8 merchandise line will go toward the creation of a memorial bench a lasting tribute that will be placed at the men’s final resting ground, offering families, friends, and the community a place of peace, reflection, and remembrance.
The launch also coincides with the 13th anniversary of the disappearance of Majeed “Hamid” Kayhan, one of the eight men whose lives we honour today.
REMEMBERING MAJEED “HAMID” KAYHAN
Born: 1951, Afghanistan
Disappeared: October 14, 2012, Toronto, Canada
Majeed “Hamid” Kayhan was a kind, warm, and generous man whose journey took him from Afghanistan to Canada in search of peace and belonging. Known affectionately as Hamid, he was a proud father, a devoted friend, and a man defined by his compassion and quiet strength.
Hamid had a gift for connection a smile that could soften hearts and a humour that lifted spirits. He loved cooking traditional Afghan meals and sharing stories of home, often finding comfort and community in Toronto’s Church and Wellesley Village.
Those who knew him remember a man who gave more than he received, who never turned away a friend in need, and who believed in kindness above all else.
On October 14, 2012, Hamid disappeared under tragic circumstances, leaving behind family and friends who continue to seek peace and remembrance. Thirteen years later, his memory endures not in the darkness of what was lost, but in the light of how he lived.
THE “REMEMBER THE 8” CAMPAIGN
The Remember the 8 campaign, created by the Daring Greatly production team in collaboration with Memorable Brands Clothing, is both a tribute and a call to action a commitment to preserve the legacy of the eight men and to ensure their stories continue to inspire empathy, awareness, and change.
The campaign’s limited-edition merchandise line features apparel and collectibles that serve as symbols of remembrance. Each item carries meaning a statement that these men are not forgotten, and their lives continue to matter.
A portion of all proceeds will go directly toward the installation of the memorial bench at the men’s final resting ground, creating a permanent place of reflection and honour where their names and spirits will live on.
